Starbucks sticks to gun policy despite outcry

Petition urges coffee chain to ‘offer espresso shots, not gunshots’
Summary:

In Seattle, a coffee chain Starbucks corporation is allowing customers that carry guns where it is legal. They say this becasue they would not like to be put in the middle of a larger gun-control debate. The compnay states some gun owners have walked into Starbucks and other businesses to test state laws that allow gun owners to carry weapons openly in public places . This fight began to heat up in Northern California and has spread to many other states and companies through the pro-gun group OpenCarry.org. Some events were non-organized with one or two gun onwers walking into a store. While others were organized with twelve or more gun owners walking into restuarnats with the firearm proudly at thier sides.Gun control advoctes are protesting that the compnay should "offer espresso shots, not gunshots" and declare its coffeehouses "gun-free zones." A group delivered 28,000 signatures to the coffee headquarters in Seattle. Brian Malte of the Brady Campaign said carrying guns intimidates and frightens people, and said the group thinks Starbucks will "do the right thing" and change its policy. "They're putting their workers in harm's way by allowing people to carry guns into their stores, especially open carry," Malte said. Businesses can choose to ban guns from their premises. And Starbucks said Wednesday that it complies with local laws in the 43 states that have open-carry weapon laws.
Connections:
Starbucks in Seatle had a policy of allowing customers who own hand gun to purchase from their stores. Some stores have a policy that if the customers have a bag with them they have to leave it at the door and then enter the store. Instead Starbucks is allowing gun owners to enter their stores and purchase whenever they want too.
Reflection:
I personally believe that Starbucks has chickened out by allowing gun onwers to enter their store with their handguns proudly by their sides. In my opinion this is rather dangerous and a lot of consequences can occur with this policy. The reason they are allowing this policy is becasue they must believe they will lose a lot of customers. I am sure that will not happen but it sure seems like they do not really care about the saftey of there employees which should matter a lot to enormous buisnesses like Starbucks.
